The Return of Sis Dahl

We were THRILLED to get a call from Sis Dahl that she would be coming to visit and staying with us with her friend McKayla. The weird part was getting used to calling her Jessi. The funny part was when Nick realized he could now hug her since she is no longer a missionary and he grabbed her and pulled her down on his lap. Her reaction was hilarious!!!!

I feel like my other daughter had come home. Now we just need Sis Cochrane here too and our lives would feel complete. :)

Happy Early Birthday to Hailey

Brian and I had told Hailey not to expect a car for her 16th birthday and we told both Nick and Hailey that they would be sharing the car we got Nick. There had already been some heated arguments about how to pay for gas, how to divide time, etc but they were beginning to figure out how to talk about it in a solution-oriented way rather than just arguing. Around that same time though Brian and I started toying with the idea of actually getting her a car if we could find a good deal.

All the stars happened to align and we found a great car at a good deal and we bought it. The problem was that we were still 3 months out from her birthday and we would have to keep it a secret. So we stored it in Grandma and Grandpa Walker's garage. But within a week, Brian was already starting to slip and say things about it with Hailey in the room but we tried to blow off the comment he was making and she bought it. But we realized we'd have to give her the car soon or we would blow the surprise. So, still 3 months till her birthday, we gave her her birthday present and she was SHOCKED!

It was a Sunday afternoon and she and Courtney were taking a nap on the couch. I woke her up to tell her we were going to Grandma's and she was ornery and wanted us to wait to go until after her nap. I told her we couldn't wait and we were going now...which ticked her off haha. I told her Grandpa wanted to see her new camera she got for Christmas and also talk to her about basketball. So when we got there she went into grandpas den and showed him the camera then I grabbed it from her while she talked to him about basketball so I could use it to take pictures of her big surprise.

Grandma then lured her to the garage by saying, "Hailey, come to the garage with me...I found this thing out on the street and I'm not sure what to do with it." She was thinking it was an animal or something and it was so mysteries that she was scared to go out there haha. Once she got out there though she immediately started crying when she saw her very own car. :)

It was such a priceless moment and she was sooooooooooooo grateful!!!!!!! :) Now she just begins the torture of waiting till she's 16 to get her license. :)

Happy Valentines Day

Somebody left some awesome chalk art on our driveway for Nick for Valentines Day. It's signed by Nicki Minaj but for some reason I don't think it was really her doing this...hahaha. Fun surprise for him to come home to though. :)

Hailey left me this sweet Valentines display and note which I LOVED!!!!! The funny thing about this is that everything she used came from our house...she just knows how to display it all beautifully. :)

Sophomore/JV Basketball

The Sophomore/JV basketball season is in the books. Hailey had a great year...scoring in many of the games and definitely showing her defensive strength! Practices were hard, the coach was pretty hard, but the camaraderie of the the team was worth it all! The sophomores won more games than the Varsity and JV combined. Hailey loved having the opportunity to play with the girls her own age as well as the JV girls.

I LOVED watching Hailey and her friends cheer on the Varsity girls. They were always over there having as much fun as possible while others took advantage of the time to do homework.(See girls behind them.) :)

Hailey never practiced with the JV team but they often had her play with them so that resulted in some in-game coaching of the plays they were running.
Hailey scored 10 points in a quarter and a half in this game.

Hailey was a killer rebounder (perhaps because I told her I would pay her a buck a rebound). :)

Both times they played Riverton, Hailey guarded Courtney's best friends sister. :)

I was sad to see the season come to an end because I absolutely love watching my girl play ball!
