Nick on Parade

Last week was Lehi Roundup Week and part of that is a parade that goes throughout Lehi. Nick's scout troop was asked to be part of the parade so Saturday morning Brian dropped him off to meet up with his troop and the rest of us were going to get our spots towards the end of the parade route. As I was home getting ready, people from work were calling one after another to discuss some drama that was happening and the refrigerator repair man showed up right then so Brian was caught up in dealing with him. By the time Hailey and I got down to the parade, parked, and started walking to find a spot I got a text from Nick telling me he was done and ready to go. We TOTALLY MISSED HIM in the parade and I found out he was at the very front right behind the military. I was so bummed!!! So I'm thankful that this picture was put on our scouting calendar for the month so I could track it down and get a copy!!!

The Softer Side of Nick :)

I'm not sure what's going on with how these pictures dropped in but they're not being very cooperative. They're showing up on my typing screen much differently than they show up when I preview how the blog will post...interesting.

Well we had a blast babysitting our favorite little Ellie again yesterday. What amused me the most was to see how much Nick LOVED Ellie...and she LOVED him. They were hanging out on the couch together and she'd just lay back on him...or start climbing on him...or plop down on him with her little book...ADORABLE.

The funniest part of the night...and don't worry Heather, I was right there supervising...is when we were in the kitchen getting dinner ready and Hailey asked Nick if he would hold Ellie while she ate really fast and then she would hold her while Nick ate. Nick was excited to take her but as he took her he had her in mid air with his hands underneath her armpits and didn't know what to do next...I believe his exact words were (and sounding somewhat panicked) "Wait...how do I hold it?" IT??? WHAT?????? I guess he's never actually held a baby standing up before. :) Hailey quickly got him situated but he promptly took her in the living room and sat down with her to play with her toys. :)

We're so happy we got to spend another fun day with Ellie!!!

Thankful...ummm day of the week :)

So I haven't been keeping up with my Thankful Thursday posts...but I am thankful for many things the last couple of weeks. I'm thankful that the weather warmed up enough for the kids to spend tons of hours at the pool. That was always such a big part of my summer growing up and I love that my kids enjoy the water just as much!!! They are little fish and fearless...it's amazing to me that they literally "jump" off the high dive when I can barely bring myself to crawl to the edge and and squat down as low as I can get and practically hang from the bottom of it till I can work up the courage to drop down into the water. :) Last year I actually climbed back down the ladder because I couldn't even work up the courage to do that...yes that was very embarrassing for my kids but luckily not many people were at the pool yet.

I'm also thankful for the beautiful flowers Brian cut from our yard and brought in for me. He said...and I quote, "their beauty reminded him of my beauty"...now if you know my husband that was really a "line" he was delivering from a movie or something in order to earn some brownie points. :) But I love him for trying! :)

I'm also thankful we got to watch our favorite little baby friend Ellie this week and we get to watch her again on Thursday. She is so fun and so cute and both my kids absolutely love her to pieces!!!!

I'm thankful as well that my talk at church is over and I can go to church this week without butterflies in my tummy!! :)

Thankful Friday :)

Today I am thankful for summer...and for the fact that it's actually feeling a little like summer out there after our massive snow fall two weeks ago. Nick and I just got back from a 10 mile bike ride and it was awesome to be out in the sunshine riding our bikes again. I am thankful for every change of season (even though I like some seasons more than others)! Each season brings different clothes to wear, toys to play with, things to do, etc and it's fun to get excited about it each time a different season rolls around. Currently we are giddy about having our first bbq this week, lighting our first fire in the fire pit and roasting marshmallows, dusting off the bikes (or getting a new one as in Nick's case), buying the swim pass and working on our tans...Hailey always turns into our little Indian girl in the summer with her awesome olive skin tan. :) Pretty soon we'll be taking out the 4-wheelers and spending some time in the mountains and at the lake...hurray for summer!!!
