Brian and our neighbor Brett went on their annual backpacking trip. This year they went back to Kings Peak but decided they went a little too late in the year as they woke up one morning to snow covering the ground. On day three they decided it was worth it to hike the 20 miles out and come home a day early.
Hailey started her first season playing volleyball and is loving it! She was lucky enough to get a great coach and be put on a team with AWESOME team spirit!!! She didn't know one person on the team since they pick teams on a draft system but has developed quick friendships. The coach has made it a point to unite these girls as a team and even made matching headbands for each girl as well as T-shirts with their team name on the front and own names on the back for them to wear to school every Friday before their Saturday games. To me, this is what being on a team is all about...I love it! They won their first game but lost their second. I've decided at this age it's all about the serve. If they can get the serve over the net, there's a very good chance they're going to win the point! :)
I'd love to give a report on Bryson but we've only heard from him ONCE in the 6 weeks he's been gone. I know he is extremely busy but I really hate not hearing from him!!! In the one letter he received he told us that he was extremely homesick for the first couple of weeks but things were starting to get a little better for him. He was made a leader over a group of guys based on his physical abilities so he felt good about that. Please keep him in your prayers as he sounded like he is going through the hardest experience of his life, which I'm sure he is!!!!!
Starting with Bryson--I commit to praying for him every Friday. I pray for 30 minutes in church--signed up for it, working to keep the school discount. You know all about that, Julie :)Being able to pray for him will give me great purpose while I am there.
ReplyDeleteHailey looked so athletic and I love those head bands! Her coach sounds like my kind of coach.
And finally, Brian. Let's not forget last year when he was nearly lost forever. So glad this trip was uneventful in that way!
