Fun (but rainy) Vacation

Last week we went on an awesome vacation to Yellowstone, Jackson Hole & Victor, Idaho with our neighbors & friends Courtney, Krista, CJ & Kaelen. We rented a cabin/house in Victor, Idaho and it was the perfect size for both our families to fit perfectly. It had a hot tub on the deck and a swimming pond that the kids had the guts to go in even though it was cold and rainy everyday. Nothing stops kids from having a great time...especially these kids. They get along so well together and always have fun and make the most of things! :-)

I had to start things off with this picture Hailey took of me because I think it represents how moms feel on vacation. hahahaha No, really it was a fun, relaxing vacation and it was so nice to have another "mom" there (Krista) to share the load of cooking, cleaning up afterwards and getting everyone ready to go places. :) (She actually did more than her share of cooking because she's a much better cook than I am.) :)
This is the kids on top of a "wolf cave" at the Bear & Wolf Museum outside of West Yellowstone. This was the only place we saw live bears and wolves...didn't get to see any on our trip through the park. Throughout Yellowstone we saw bald eagles, lots of bison, Brian saw a fox but the rest of us didn't, we fed the chipmunks at our picnic spot...they ate everything from bread, to peaches, to cheese puffs, and even a gummy bear. We also saw elk, deer and a moose. Very cool!!!

We loved the hot pools and geysers. The sulfur made them pretty stinky but the kids were pretty fascinated by them.

Old Faithful is always the coolest! The rain cooperated with us so well this day because everytime we wanted to get out of the car to see something it would stop raining. It was drizzling when we got out for Old Faithful but we went into the gift shop to wait and by the time we were coming out the skies shut off, we watched it erupt, then the minute we got back into the car it started to downpour.

In Jackson we went to the Bar J Chuckwagon for dinner and the show. The kids took a wagon ride before dinner started. It was a pretty short ride but it killed time while we were waiting. :)

You always have to take a picture under the antlers in Jackson Hole. :-)

Getting ready for our 4-wheeler ride. It drizzled on us a little during our ride but it was still a lot of fun. We didn't take advantage of a lot of the trails a little further away from the cabin because of the weather but it was nice to just hop on a trail right in front of the cabin and ride around and enjoy the beautiful scenery!

Enjoying the 4 wheelers. This was the first time Brian has ridden his new 4 wheeler other than on our street and it was so nice to be able to go all together!

Crazy children in the freezing cold pond! They would warm up in the hot tub first than run over to the pond. They had a blast and played in the water for hours going back and forth.

The main room in our cabin. It was nice to be able to bbq burgers and cook some of our meals during the trip. We spent a night watching movies and played some games...overall just a very fun trip!!!

  2. I love your photo layouts with your posts, Julie. The first one of you is a scream--and universal for moms, even not on vacation! That vacation is one I'd like to take Libby on one day. Your kids are so cute!
